Obsidian

What's Obsidian?

An awesome (my favorite) note creation and linking app that uses simple markdown.

Aa a huge positive, Obsidian creates text files with the "notename.md" file name in your local system. Folders and notes are held on your computer in a "Vault" that Obsidian sees and processes.

This is huge!

Why? Because it does not lock you into a database you can't easily get out of. Other cool apps like Notion, Bear.app, Ulysses, and the once cool, Evernote all lock you into their proprietary system that's hard to transfer out of.

Why I Use Obsidian Daily

Zettelkasten is a older term for note systems that had connectors to small fragments of notes vs. long form notebook systems that are harder to process.

PKM stands for Personal Knowledge Manager. Build one and it will change your life.

Use the Digital Garden concept to publish your notes and reap the creative benefits of Practicing in Public.

Compare Obsidian to other apps such as Notion, Roam, the wonderful Mac/iOS Bear.app (which I also use daily and love).
