Osprey Inlet - Poem
Osprey Inlet
High above the Inlet
An osprey floats.
Watching the water,
The flow that holds.
Never Ending.
Flowing, flowing, forever floating
Life, in it's forever flux...
Forth and back, back and forth,
In is out. And out is in.
Suns rise. Moons set.
The Inlet holds all of it.
Present as time itself.
Stilless in motion.
Flying through it.
The bird, still seeking...
Fly. Drop. Fish. Rise, Fly. Nest. Fly.
Fly. Drop. Fish. Rise, Fly. Nest. Fly.
High above the inlet.
We float.
Some context on this poem.
Poetry has become a way for me to say something I cannot say otherwise.
In my 20's, I did a lot of self-work, dealing with the grief of losing my dad to heart disease when I was 10, and then losing my best friend to suicide at 21.
This work was foundational to me becoming a Life Coach muuuuch later in life at 52 yrs old.
The Osprey is a major symbol of Hope that came out of those thoughtful, crucible days in my 20s.
The Inlet, the flow of time, the eternal Axis Mundi images needed to be born, so I wrote the poem.
